Junta warplanes bombed three towns in northern Shan State four times on October 4, killing two civilians and wounding nine others, local sources said.

After coming under the control of the Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA), jet fighters carried out bombings in Manhe Village, Thibaw Township, one strike at 7:32 a.m.; one strike at 7:43 a.m. in Maingaw Town; and two strikes around 12:20 p.m. in Zalton Hoon Village, Namhsan Township, as reported.

“When they bombed Thibaw, some school buildings were damaged. When they bombed Maingaw, nothing was damaged. When they reached Nam San, both people and buildings were seriously affected,” a source said.

Jet fighters dropped two 250-pound bombs on Zalton Hoon Village, Namhsan Township, killing two children instantly and injuring nine civilians, including six children in the surrounding area, as reported.

“The airstrikes are likely to intensify in the coming days because they have said they will advance on Thibaw to prevent it from being captured. Drones are also flying frequently at night, and a reconnaissance plane was seen in the morning. The revolutionary forces are not easy to defeat in this area,” a local observer said.

On October 1, after regaining control of Kyaukme Town, junta forces have been moving along the Kyaukme-Bawkgyi-Thibaw route toward Thibaw Town and along the Naungcho-Mokok route, conducting continuous airstrikes.

On October 2, junta forces dropped a 500-pound bomb on Ward 8 of Nammatu Township, where civilians live, killing three displaced people and seriously injuring seven others, according to reports.
