14 July, 2025

On July 12, in the afternoon, more than 80 military council troops, including officers, abandoned their camp and fled to the Thai side after being unable to withstand drone and artillery attacks launched by KNLA allied forces. The attack targeted the Ukarihta camp located along the Waw Lay–Myawaddy section of the Thai–Myanmar border in southern Myawaddy Township, Karen State, according to Thai border information sources.

“It may be around 12 noon today. They couldn’t take the drone and artillery strikes anymore inside the camp. First, a group, over 20 soldiers fled through the Thaung Yin creek. Then later, another group, more than 60 also crossed and ran. Some were injured too. The Thai military picked them up with vehicles. Right now, the camp is being cleared because of landmines," said a Thai border source.

In addition, two military council soldiers were captured alive during the seizure of the military camp, and one of them, who was injured, is currently receiving medical treatment, according to reports.

While KNLA allied forces were clearing and securing the seized Ukarihta military camp, it is reported that frontline KNDO/KNLA joint forces continued their offensive attack against the military council’s strategic Wall Lay hill camp near New Wall Lay Myothit.
