Resistance Forces Capture Junta Base Held for Nearly Two Years in Yedashe Township

2 January, 2026

The Commander of the Naypyitaw Regional Military Command said that joint revolutionary defense forces decisively overran and seized a junta military base in Yedashe Township, Bago Region, ending nearly two years of occupation by regime troops.

On December 30, at around 7:30 a.m., joint resistance defense forces launched an assault on a junta military outpost manned by approximately 40 troops in Dotan Village, located on the western bank of the Sittaung River in Yedashe Township, triggering an exchange of fire between the two sides.

During the exchange of fire, two junta soldiers were killed and some weapons and ammunition were seized, according to the resistance forces. Later, at around 8:30 a.m., approximately 70 junta troops advancing from Aung Chan Thar Village to reinforce the Dotan Village fighting were ambushed and attacked by defense forces that had taken up layered interception positions near Takhaik Kyae Village.

As a result of the attacks, at least 20 junta soldiers were killed, and casualties were reportedly evacuated using ambulances. Although the junta attempted to send reinforcements backed by tanks, the defense forces were able to intercept and block them, according to resistance sources.

In addition, at around 9:30 a.m., defense forces opened fire on a junta checkpoint in Khintan Lay Village, on the western bank of the Sittaung River in Yedashe Township, where junta troops stationed in the village were conducting inspections of civilians passing in front of the village monastery. Two junta personnel were killed in the attack.

Later that day, at around 2:00 p.m., defense forces successfully seized a junta fixed-position base manned by approximately 60 troops in Oe Myay Du Village, which was under attack. Following heavy losses, surviving junta soldiers reportedly fled by crossing the Sittaung River and retreating to the western bank.

Among those fleeing, three junta soldiers were captured alive. During the clashes, no fewer than 20 junta troops were killed, and a large quantity of weapons and ammunition was seized. On the side of the joint defense forces, one fighter was killed and five others were wounded.

“They stayed there for about one and a half to two years. They drove villagers out and set up the base. About 60 soldiers were usually there, and around 20 were killed. Right now, we control the area, and there are no junta troops there anymore. On the 31st, they started attacks to take the area back and used a lot of heavy weapons. The three soldiers we captured alive will be handled according to military rules and international law. We will keep and treat them properly,” said the Commander of the Naypyitaw Regional Military Command.

During the clashes, the junta forces, which suffered heavy losses, reportedly reinforced their troops and carried out artillery shelling on villages along the Sittaung River. The attack was jointly carried out by battalions under the Naypyitaw Regional Military Command, Bago Regional Military Command Battalion (3504), and Yedashe (PaKaPha).
