In Magway Region, Yesagyo Township, the junta launched an airstrike on Nga Ta Raw Village in the Ye Lae Kyun area, which had already been completely burned down, resulting in civilian casualties, according to the People’s Defense Force (PDF).
On August 31, shortly after 1 PM, an airstrike struck Ngar Ta Raw Village, resulting in the immediate deaths of three residents. Two additional individuals died while being transported for medical treatment, and 10 others sustained injuries, according to reports.
“The plane hit like this. The injured aren’t in any serious danger right now. There were three people on site; we were trying to move and treat them; unfortunately, two others died. A total of five casualties,” said an official from the Yesagyo Township PDF unit.
The people who died were simply following local customs, visiting friends’ homes in the village during the afternoon, when they were struck and killed.
The airstrike damaged at least three houses, and villagers are reportedly fleeing in fear, worried that more aircraft may return.
“The villagers didn’t have time to run. They saw the plane coming, and since it’s normal for them to visit and chat around the village during the day, they didn’t dare stay and had to flee,” the official mentioned.
Nga Ta Raw Village, which has over 600 houses, was almost completely burned down by junta troops on August 17, 2022.
